The European Union recently published new guidelines to "to promote biodiversity-friendly and adaptive forest management as part of a common framework for closer-to-nature forest management".
Although it is relatively common in Central Europe, it has been sparsely adopted in Southern Europe and remains limited to local experiences.
The activities of the LIFE GoProForMED project converge with what is hoped for by the EU.
The primary aim of the project is , indeed, to improving or at least not worsening the conservation status of four target forest habitats in the Mediterranean Biogeographic Region through the application of "close to nature" management models.
About a year after the start of the LIFE project activities, GoProForMED organizes a workshop to present the first results, with specific reference to the planning and characterization of the elements of the ecological network for the conservation of forest habitats and their biodiversity.
The workshop will also address some of the main challenges faced by Mediterranean forests, including forest fires and grazing.
The workshop will take place on 4 December 2023 in Monte Pisanu (Sardinia-Italy) and can be followed in person and online, with a simultaneous English/Italian translation service.
Download the latest version of Zoom, well in advance and in any case before the start of the meeting. This will allow you to use the remote simultaneous interpretation function.
